Kathy Smith - Virtual Assistant Extraordinaire!
Kathy is a warm, friendly, enthusiastic person who loves to help people in their businesses. From an early age, she always wanted to be the right-hand person to the "big boss". In many of the positions she's held, she has done just that. Kathy brings over 20 years administrative/writing experience to her work. As a VA for the last 10 years, she's added many more skills to her ever-growing repertoire. She thrives on time-oriented and detailed-oriented tasks as well as writing and editing projects. She's open to new ways of doing things and also likes to be proactive, suggesting ideas and taking charge of what needs to be done. Kathy understands how essential an effective, productive and collaborative relationship is to her clients. And for her, it's important that she cultivates a deep sense of connection with everyone she works with. At the end of the day, knowing she's helped make someone else's life easier gives her great satisfaction.

Kathy has worked as an independent contractor for 10 years. Most notably, she worked from 1993 to 1997 in several administrative posts with the province's Ministry of Health, Mental Health Division. Besides enhancing and broadening her pre-existing administrative/secretarial skills in these positions, Kathy became adept at proposing and landing her own contract work. In 2001 she officially launched Smith Secretarial & Design, and has worked for clients from all over North America. Her reputation as a dedicated, thorough and trusted worker is exemplary.

An 14-year freelance writer, Kathy has been published in Looking Great, Business Examiner, Times-Colonist, Esquimalt News, Saanich News, Health Care News, Visions, Schizophrenia Digest, Focus, and more. She is also an excellent copy-writer. Besides writing and editing a variety of documents for numerous clients, Kathy is the former newsletter editor for the Canadian Virtual Assistant Network as well as the Victoria Chapter of the Periodical Writer's Association of Canada.
